School gets Specialist Arts Status

On Wednesday 18th June 2008 the school was told that its bid to become a Specialist Arts school had been successful. This means that the school will be able to improve the already excellent arts facilities and offer additional courses to our students and to members of our community.

The Specialism brings together Art, English and ICT to allow students to work in a creative, multi-media environment. Mr Samain said, "This is excellent news. We are well known for our superb arts productions and events and this is an added bonus for the whole school community."

A city school is today celebrating after a seismic shift in performance which has seen it go from one of the worst in the country for boosting student's GCSE performance to a ranking in the top 6%. The Cecil Road school has just learnt it is now in the country's elite for boosting student's achievements.
